Sustainability For Built Environment

Description:
Sustainability is responsibly interacting with the planet to maintain natural resources and avoid jeopardizing the ability for future generations to meet their needs. The course looks at the increasingly important role of energy and environmental factors which are increasingly impacting on buildings, their use, and their occupants. As buildings consume a large proportion of the total energy used in industrial countries, students should be able to evaluate the design implications of poor energy efficiency in terms of social, environmental impact and economy consequences.

Objectives:
This module aims to develop students’ understanding on the importance of sustainability for the future and how to include/apply it into their design to ensure great benefits to the building, the environment and the occupiers of the space.
